Vegetable Garden

The Vegetable Garden began in 2006 with the purpose of demonstrating to the public how to organically grow seasonal vegetables in a backyard setting.

Using raised beds constructed of different materials, elevated beds and containers, the garden generally operates from March through October, donating a wide range of vegetables to the Fauquier FISH food bank on site. In 2019 a fence was added to protect the plants.

Crops vary year to year, but usually include beans, potatoes, lettuces, tomatoes, peppers, beets, turnips and many other vegetables.

More Information:

Collection: A large organic vegetable garden with a collecton of seasonal vegetables changes throughout the year. Cover crops are used in the beds between vegetable crops. A perennial herb collection is also located within the garden.

History: The gardens were started in 2006. They have grown and expanded over the years. Raised beds made of various materials define the spaces for vegetables. Fresh produce is regularly donated to the adjacent FISH Foodbank. A fence and gate were added in 2019 to protect the garden from four legged critters.

Notes: The gardens are open daily dawn to dusk, please come and visit and remember to close the gate when leaving.
