The 2024 MGAFRC Photo Contest.
This contest is for all photographers: the novice photographer using a cell phone as well as experienced photographers with advanced camera equipment. Many of the winning photographs in past years were taken with cell phones. Amazing pictures can be captured by all individuals at varying experience levels and we encourage all to participate.
An email account was created specifically for the MGAFRC Photo Contest and all entries should be sent to the email address shown below. Entries will be accepted until midnight Friday, November 15, 2024. This will allow you to enter photographs as you take them during the year! The specifications for entries are shown below.
Contest Rules

1.
Contest is open to all MGAFRC members.

2.
All photos must be taken in Virginia. The exception is the Landscape Near and Far- landscape design found anywhere.

3.
By submitting a photograph, you represent, acknowledge and warrant that the submitted photograph is an original work created by you, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.

4.
The photographer retains all ownership rights to photographs submitted. By entering a photo you grant MGAFRC and the Extension Horticulture Agent the right to utilize this photo in any media format including but not limited to press outlets, print and websites.

Entries should be submitted to photo@mgfrc.org by midnight Friday, November 15, 2024

List entries by category. You may submit two (2) entries per category, with titles, photographer’s name and contact information- email address and phone number.

Please be clear about the category for each photo entered.

8.
All entries should be in JPEG format and in the proper orientation, landscape or portrait.

9.
Entries may be submitted any time between January and the October deadline of the current year.

10.
Winners will be announced at the annual MGAFRC General Membership meeting in December.
Contest Categories for 2024
How creative can you be with an interpretation of these pretty generic categories?
Local natives…native plants, shrubs within Fauquier County
Flowers… closeups or large display but a great photo either way
The Veggie Patch…your locally growing/grown gems, inside and out
Creepy crawlies… bugs, snakes, rodents of all kinds
On the wing… birds or flying insects
Hard at work… people ( check with your human subject for an ok) or animal
Landscaped near and far…landscape design found anywhere
Weather…Rain and wind, fog and snow, misty sun and clouds aglow, we can make our gardens grow.
