Twilight Talk - Reach for Growth: Using Horticultural Activities for Everyday Wellness

  • Remington Community Garden Pavillion 160 West Bowen Street Remington, VA, 22734 United States (map)

In Celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month (May), Master Gardeners of Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties (MGFRC), Mental Health Association of Fauquier County and Remington Community Garden are welcoming Stephanie Ramirez, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a certificate in horticultural therapy, to share with members of the community ways in which horticultural activities can foster everyday wellness, especially as it relates to mental and emotional health.  Stephanie will provide real examples of how horticulture can be used in professional settings, as well as at home, to improve our quality of life. Participants can expect to experience the benefits of horticulture themselves through this hands-on session.

The program will start at 6:00 PM and will include a presentation, a short Q&A session and a hands-on activity, where participants can make something to take home.  The program is free, open to the public and all ages are welcome.  The program will be held under the Pavilion, and in case of rain, it will be held in the Methodist Church across the street.

Plenty of parking is available in the lot by the pavilion, with additional parking behind the church across the street.
