Rady Park Arboretum, a member of the national arboreta society ArbNet, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Friday, September 27 from 5-7:30p.m. Located at the intersection of Fauquier & Evans Rd., the arboretum was established in 1999 by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Association.
The celebration of the anniversary is designed to be a fun-filled family evening in the arboretum, organized by the joint efforts of Master Gardeners of Fauquier & Rappahannock, The Town of Warrenton and other community supporters. Featured are: food for purchase - Ukrainian Yummys, Hai Nguyen’s Vietnamese, Zenesis BBQ & hot dogs, and FREE Carousel soft serve. There will also be lawn games, a scavenger hunt, face painting, tours of the park, tree sapling giveaways and music by the Elizabeth Lawrence band. Since parking at the park is limited, participants are encouraged to park on Timberfence Parkway. A brief program will feature local dignitaries as well as key people involved in the creation of the arboretum.
Although designed to be educational, the lovely park features a meandering stream, natural foot paths, benches and a state of the art playground. Fourteen planting beds feature identified native & non-native trees as well as woody shrubs. The park is maintained by the Town of Warrenton, Fauquier County & Master Gardener volunteers. It is an ideal spot for family activities.
Picnic benches and bathroom facilities are available for attendees.
The Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Association would like to thank the PATH charitable foundation in Warrenton for helping to make this event possible through the award of a grant from their “Better Together Fund.” PATH’s Better Together Fund exists to support community-facing events that bring people together and provides funds to nonprofits operating in Fauquier, Rappahannock and Culpeper counties.
