Remington Community Garden

Imagine a place where townspeople can stake out a garden plot to grow their own fresh, healthful fruits and vegetables. Residents can bond with old friends and make new ones in a beautiful setting with trees, shrubs, and flowers, plus picnic tables, benches and grills.

The Remington Community Garden has become a gathering place for families and individuals. At Remington Community Garden, Master Gardeners help to plant and maintain an herb garden, 4 raised bed demonstration gardens and several plots used to grow food for the community. They also maintain 3 large flower & shrub beds around the stage area.

The Garden was established in 2014 with one of the first 3 “Make It Happen” grants from the PATH Foundation.

2015 was the first summer of gardening. We started with 21 plots 15' x 15'. We now have 35 plots.

The Garden property is owned by Remington United Methodist Church. Water is provided by St. Luke's Episcopal Church. We have a volunteer board consisting of gardeners, Church members and community members.

The Garden operates 100% from donations of time and money. Gardeners rent their plots for a year paying according to their abilities (there is no specific charge – we welcome all). The Garden provides basic tools, tillers, mulch, lime, compost and often gets free plants and seeds. Gardeners only provide their own soil amendments and plants.

They may Garden any time. Combination locks are on the water faucets and shed, allowing Gardeners to work at their convenience. In 2019 we received another grant from PATH to build our own pavilion.
